主讲人简介:塔里克·杜拉尼(Tariq S Durrani),英国斯特拉斯克莱德大学电子与电气工程学院教授,信号处理专家,爱丁堡皇家学会院士,英国皇家工程院院士,美国国家工程院外籍院士,中国科学院外籍院士。杜拉尼在信号处理的关键研究领域做出了开创性的卓越贡献,是该领域的国际学术权威之一。他提出了频谱分析的新算法、自适应阵列处理的新架构,以及多项新型信号处理技术,并在雷达、声呐、激光多普勒、图像处理、医学成像和地震信号分析与处理等领域获得了广泛的应用。
报告摘要:Achieving a sustainable net zero carbon future hinges on the transformative power of clean energy and engineering innovation. Clean energy technologies—such as solar, wind, hydro, and green hydrogen—are rapidly replacing fossil fuels, offering scalable, low-emission alternatives that are essential for decarbonizing power generation, transportation, and industry.
Engineering innovation is the catalyst that enables these technologies to be deployed efficiently and integrated into urban and industrial systems. From smart grids and energy storage to electrified transport and carbon capture, engineering solutions are redefining how we produce, distribute, and consume energy. Innovations in materials science, AI-driven energy management and other tools are further enhancing performance and sustainability.
Together, clean energy and engineering innovation are not only reducing emissions but also creating resilient infrastructure, green jobs, and inclusive economic growth. They empower communities to participate in the energy transition and ensure that climate action is both equitable and effective.
To realize this vision, we must invest in research, foster cross-sector collaboration, and implement forward-thinking policies. The path to net zero is not just a technical challenge—it is a societal opportunity to build a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future for all.
This presentation explores the critical role of clean energy and engineering innovation in achieving a zero-carbon future. To this end, the talk will cover aspects of Clean Technologies, address Engineering Innovation in areas including smart grids, sustainable building practices, carbon capture and storage; and link this to case studies for implementation and investment in Clean technologies to achieve a Net Zero Future.
